House "Rules"

Because these discussions come up regularly I thought I'd create some pages with highlights of  conversations I've participated in so you can see some suggestions about applying these ideas in "real life".

In case you're unfamiliar with email list "netiquette", the particular text from the initial message that I am replying to is highlighted ... I do that by enclosing it within double brackets: << .... >> and the text is italicized. Also, I have put lines between the emails to separate them (so you don't get confused if the content seems to jump around). The introductions I have added to the beginning of each email are in italics and bold.

Bedtimes Won't they just stay up all night? I know how much sleep they need each night so they are not grumpy the next day!

Mealtimes Supper's ready! Please stop what you're doing and come to the table right now ...

Chores We always argue about chores but they live here too. Shouldn't they be required to help out around the house?
